Description

In 2022, Hak4Kidz will be held on March 26th from 10 am-4 pm at Bloomsburg University Kehr Union, Bloomsburg PA.

 

This year we are excited to partner with the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds and open the conference up to anyone who wants to attend

 

Ethical hackers, information security professionals, and educators will bring the benefits of white hat hacking to the children and young adults at the conference. The conference features, guest speakers, workshops, and STEM work stations. Attendees have a chance to win prizes, expand their knowledge, and explore the world of hacks!

 

General admission tickets are free to this event. There is a limited number of swag bag tickets that gets you general admission and a swag bag!

 

Add-on workshops ($5.00 additional charge) for the Hak4Kidz event! To participate in the workshops, you MUST have a ticket.  You must show up to the workshop location 10min before your start time. No Refunds. No exchanges for a different time. The ticket is only good for the time you sign up for.

 

*Due to the event being hosted at Bloomsburg University we will be following their guidelines. As of 3/1:

The BU COVID Health & Safety Plan will be updated to follow the current CDC and PA Dept. of Health guidance with the following stipulations:

  • Masks are highly recommended, but will not be required, in classrooms and other university interior spaces as long as Columbia County remains in the low/medium-risk category.
  • Individuals may continue to wear a mask if they feel more comfortable doing so.
  • Any individual who is experiencing COVID symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion) must continue to wear a mask.
  • Individuals who have tested positive for the COVID virus in the past 10 days must wear a mask.


Workshops available are: 
1. LEGO MANIACS (Stop Motion with Legos): It’s time to get your Lego freak on! Every Lego Maniac has an epic movie just wanting to burst out of their brain and into the world. This is the chance to make that happen! Learn Stop Motion Animation. You’ll build Lego sets, use Lego mini-fig characters, and learn how to make your vision into an actual animated clip. - 30min workshop.


2. Programming with Edison Robots: Programming with Edison robots. Edison is a programmable robot designed to be a complete STEM teaching resource for coding and robotics education for students from 4 to 16 years of age. Effective and engaging Edison helps students learn to program while having fun. Students will learn how to program Edison to run through a maze in this 50-minute workshop.


3. Escape Room: Desert Expedition Your team of archaeologists are searching to recover the fabled Golden Staff of Mystery. While at a dig site in Istanbul a giant sand storm appears! Can you find the artifact and escape time?
